The “Tavola della Pace” (Peace Roundtable) is an Italian network of more than 500 Local Authorities, 800 associations, religious and civic organizations, trade unions and local groups actively involved in promoting peace, development, human rights and solidarity. It was established on January 13th, 1996, at the Franciscan Sacred Convent in Assisi by the organizations’ members of the “Italian Coordination for the 50th Anniversary of the UN” which promoted, in 1995, a widespread programme of initiatives involving more than 150.000 people. The Peace Roundtable’s initiatives aim at strengthening the political action and campaigns of peace movement and organizations and at developing a widespread peace culture and solidarity behaviour among the public. |
